For all you hardmen who bivvy out in winter: a bivvy site I came across in Derry Woods in the Cairngorms. I can’t say for certain that the red deer who slept here didn’t have bivvy bags, but I think it’s a pretty safe bet.
Found a few sites like this at the weekend (March 19), all under trees up near the treeline of the woods.
Eventually saw some of the deer who had, presumably, slept there: saw two roe deer just as they popped their heads up and saw me – and their running off at high speed alerted a group of red deer, who followed them.
Saw a buzzard searching from the treetops too, though presumably with smaller prey in mind!
